Carol Kirschenbaum
Carol Kirschenbaum has a part-time in private medical practice in Durham, NC and is board certified in Internal Medicine. She worked as a teacher in Special Education in New York City and six years as a Physicians Assistant in Radiation Oncology at UNC- Chapel Hill before becoming an MD. She has appointments as a clinical Instructor at UNC, Chapel Hill, Division of General Medicine and is on the Consulting Staff at Durham Regional Hospital. She is a member of the Lymphedema Work Group of the Care Subcommittee of the N.C. Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control and has been on the board of the NC Occupational Safety and Health Project. She is a current board member of Physicians for a National Health Program.
Thomas G. Pretlow
Thomas G. Pretlow has been at Case Western Reserve University for 21 years and is appointed as a Professor in the Departments of Pathology, Oncology, Urology, and Environmental Health Sciences. He was formerly a Visiting Professor of Pathology at the Dana Farber Cancer Center at Harvard Medical School and Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Biochemistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been President of Serra Clubs both in Alabama and Ohio and a member of the Catholic Education Endowment Trust for the Diocese of Cleveland. He is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and a member of UHCAN Ohio, UHCAN, Physicians for a National Health Program, Campaign for a National Health Program Now, the Health Committee of Interact Cleveland, Community Partners for Affordable, Accessible Health Care, and several other organizations related to social justice.
David R. Reese
David R. Reese since 2003 has been working for the Kentucky River District Health Department Hazard, KY while volunteering with the Department of Family Practice & Community Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky and also serving as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Public Health, Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine, Pikeville, KY. He is rostered National Consultant with McKing and AHP to provide technical assistance and performance reviews for HRSA Grantees. From 1978-1987 he worked for Terry Reilly Health Services, Nampa, ID as Director of Special Services and Interim Executive Director. From 1987 -99 he was chief executive officer responsible to the Board for overall administration of community health services including supervision for 25 to 75 staff including physicians, dentists, nurses, social workers, and accountants with annual budgets between $2 million to $9 million.
Jonathan B. Kotch
Jonathan B. Kotch is Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies of the Department of Maternal and Child Health, School of Public Health, UNC-CH and board certified in both Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine. He has been chairperson of the MCH Council of the National Association for Public Health Policy, President of the Association of Teachers of Maternal and Child Health, and Chair of the Maternal and Child Health Section of the American Public Health Association. He is past President of North Carolinians against Gun Violence and the NC Academy of Preventive Medicine. In 2002 he was the GlaxoSmithKline Child Health Recognition individual awardee for North Carolina.
Naomi and Alfred Shaiken
Naomi and Alfred Shaiken have been working for health care reform, since 1965, when Medicare became the law of the land. Naomi worked for the Hartford, CT Archdiocese as Director of the National Health Security Act of 1972-1976. Since then, she and her husband have been involved in various national groups promoting Universal Health Care. Naomi and Alfred co-founded the CT CALL TO ACTION in 2000, to educate people on the need for Universal Health Care.Together, this husband and wife team have been speaking on Health Care Issues wherever and whenever requested. Their background in Health care and Business makes them very aware of the need for UHC, both economically, financially, and as a human right. Previously, Alfred was the Chief Financial Officer of Lender's Bagel Bakery, until the company was sold to Kraft. Naomi was the Medical Adminstrator of a Medical Office until she retired. They bring great enthusiasm and decades of experience and activism to the board for Project EINO.
Dan Young
Dan Young is a retired Cardiologist from UNC Chapel Hill now living in Phoenix, AZ. He is a past National President of Physicians for Social Responsibility and was on their board for 10 years. For fifteen years he was on the Southeast Regional Executive Committee of American Friends Service Committee. He has had enthusiasm for National Health Insurance most of his life or at least for Universal Health Care, is amember of Physicians For a National Health Program and intends to support additional states attempting to achieve UHC, since there appears to be lttle hope for success at the national level at present.
